Infrared photography involves using a camera that has been altered to capture images using light the human eye does not normally perceive. Foliage appears to almost glow, often in white, or cyan. With people, the skin becomes very pale, often with no lines. The look and feel of an Infrared image is often referred to as dreamy or other-worldly.
Working with a digital infrared image is a two step process. The images as they appear when taken often have a strong red cast and feel flat. By adjusting the images in Photoshop the real beauty of the Infrared image is exposed.
I first became interested in IR photography with film, but had very disappointing results. In 2007 I had my first digital camera converted and have been in love with IR since.
